This map applies to all PBS Level 2 compliant vehicles up to 30 metres long operating under permit including A–doubles and B-double combinations
Unlike gazetted networks, permits obtained from the NHVR are required to operate PBS 2B compliant heavy vehicles on these networks regardless of whether the desired route appears on the map.
Roads shown as approved (green) or conditionally approved (orange) are pre-approved for permit access for the A-double reference vehicles. Roads not shown as green or orange require additional road manager approval for access by permit. Application for access by permit is to be made through the NHVR. This map is deemed to include any detour around a road closure on a pre-approved road, provided it is marked with detour signage.
Restricted structures (red dots) must not be crossed.
Operators must check for road closures and road conditions prior to travel to ensure clear passage. For roads managed by Department of State Growth this information is available on the Department of State Growth website.

These network maps show roads which can be accessed by 30m long A-double heavy vehicle combinations which meet PBS Level 2 compliance and are operating with gross mass between 68.5 tonne and 85.5 tonne. Roads mapped in three categories: Approved (green), Conditionally Approved (orange) and Restricted (red). Click on a route or bridge to show specific conditions that apply such as individual axle mass limitations or speed restrictions.
Several HPFV A-double reference vehicle options are available with different axle spacing requirements. Road managers have pre-assessed vulnerable structures on the network for each of the reference vehicles. Pre-analysis of the reference vehicles allows road managers to quickly respond to permit applications, and the maps provide industry with what mass restrictions will apply, and also other provide information such as an estimated timeframe for asset strengthening.
Unlike gazetted networks, permits obtained from the NHVR are required to operate these A-double combinations on the network regardless of whether the desired route appears on the map.

A range of other general operating conditions exist for these HPFV A-doubles. For more information and full range of conditions refer State Roads policy: Tasmania’s Performance Based Standards (PBS) Level 2B A-double High Productivity Freight Networks.

This map applies to all PBS Level 2 compliant vehicles up to 30 metres long operating under permit including A–doubles and B-double combinations which include quad axle groups. It shows roads mapped in three categories: Approved (green), Conditionally Approved (orange) and Restricted (red). Click on a route or bridge to show specific conditions that apply.
This network is referred to as ‘Cubic’ because it allows combinations up to 30m in length but restricts the overall weight to that of a conventional 26m B-double, ie 68.5 tonnes. This provides immediate volumetric productivity benefits for lighter freight whilst ensuring protection of bridge infrastructure on the network.
Unlike gazetted networks, permits obtained from the NHVR are required to operate PBS 2B compliant heavy vehicles on this 68.5 tonne limited ‘Cubic’ network regardless of whether the desired route appears on the map.
